County Commission Had a Busy Week

The Cass County Commission continues to make pro-active decisions in the final months of 2009. This week’s meeting was full of activity.

One of the first items on this week’s agenda was to address a bridge issue with 315th Street. Commissioner Bill Cook made a motion to approve and authorize Presiding Commissioner Mallory to sign construction engineering agreement with Cook, Flatt & Strobel for 315th street bridge project.

Koster Applauds Decision on Pledge of Allegiance

Former Cass County Prosecuting Attorney and current Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster says the decision protects citizens’ rights to express patriotism.

Last week, Judge Bernhardt Drumm, Jr. dismissed a lawsuit from Robert Stamm Sr. and Robert Stamm Jr. in which the men claimed Judge Kenneth Pratt violated their First Amendment rights by “coercing” them into reciting the Pledge. Upon entering the courtroom, it was typical of Judge Pratt to invite those present to remain standing for the Pledge of Allegiance.
