For political junkies in Cass County, things are finally starting to heat up in the 4th District race. Republican candidates Vicky Hartzler and Bill Stouffer have begun attacking each other and Democrat incumbent Ike Skelton.

On Nov. 3 Belton residents will decide if the Park Board will answer to the City Council or remain an independent entity.
If voters approve Bill 2009-59, the Park Board will become an administrative board answering directly to the City Council, needing approval before making decisions.

The Peculiar Board of Alderman voted last week to adopt a tax levy of $.6231 for every $100 assessed property value. This means that a home valued at $100,000 will require $623.10 in property taxes. This will go into effect October 1.

Ike Skelton’s campaign is upset at the e-mails State Sen. Bill Stouffer has sent to the highway patrol.
The e-mail, which was sent from Stouffer’s office was distributed to all staff at Troop A headquarters in Lee’s Summit. Skelton’s campaign says it should not have been created on state-owned equipment.

Bill Stouffer has thrown his hat in the ring for the 2010 4th District race against incumbent Ike Skelton. Stouffer, a Republican State Senator from Napton, MO will face Vicki Hartzler in the primary.
