The Raymore City Council passed the first reading of 2 Bills that would loosen restrictions on firearms and allow qualified city council members to carry concealed weapons into meetings.

Update to Raymore Cat Shooting

The officers involved in the shooting of 19-year-old feline Tobey will not be punished, said acting Raymore Police Chief Roger Mayberry on Friday afternoon. He added that an investigation is ongoing, and his officers have received training this past week on the proper procedures for dealing with animal control issues.

Raymore Police Kill Family Pet

On Labor Day, Kelly Wesner realized her 19-year-old cat was missing. Unbeknownst to her, Raymore Police were responding to a report of a large, vicious, feral cat that had scratched a young girl and may be diseased.

Confirmed Case of H1N1

As of Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, the Raymore-Peculiar School District learned that a staff member at Shull Elementary School had a medically confirmed case of H1N1.

Teenagers Injured in Car Accident

Highway Patrol and Cass County officials are trying to figure out how to make the intersection of J highway and Hubach Hill safer after two teenagers were injured in a serious car accident last week.

Ray-Pec Middle School to be “Green”

The building will be constructed on 58 hwy., about a mile west of 291 hwy. utilizing the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. The rainwater will be captured via a “butterfly roof” and some water will be used to irrigate the grounds. The school will also use geothermal heating & cooling, bioswales, solar power, a windmill and retention pond.

Work Begun on St. Jude Dream Home

Ground was broken last week in conjunction with the building of the newest St. Jude Dream home in Raymore.

The four bedroom, 3000-square-foot home will be given to the winner of a raffle on April 17, 2010. The $100 tickets will be available to area residents beginning January 7 of next year and all proceeds will go to St. Jude.

South Madison street closed for construction

The S. Madison Reconstruction Project between Lucy Webb and Hubach Hill Road has begun. The project is planned in four (4) phases – with each phase closing a particular section of S. Madison.
