The officers involved in the shooting of 19-year-old feline Tobey will not be punished, said acting Raymore Police Chief Roger Mayberry on Friday afternoon. He added that an investigation is ongoing, and his officers have received training this past week on the proper procedures for dealing with animal control issues.

On Labor Day, Kelly Wesner realized her 19-year-old cat was missing. Unbeknownst to her, Raymore Police were responding to a report of a large, vicious, feral cat that had scratched a young girl and may be diseased.

Highway Patrol and Cass County officials are trying to figure out how to make the intersection of J highway and Hubach Hill safer after two teenagers were injured in a serious car accident last week.

The building will be constructed on 58 hwy., about a mile west of 291 hwy. utilizing the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. The rainwater will be captured via a “butterfly roof” and some water will be used to irrigate the grounds. The school will also use geothermal heating & cooling, bioswales, solar power, a windmill and retention pond.

Ground was broken last week in conjunction with the building of the newest St. Jude Dream home in Raymore.
The four bedroom, 3000-square-foot home will be given to the winner of a raffle on April 17, 2010. The $100 tickets will be available to area residents beginning January 7 of next year and all proceeds will go to St. Jude.
