Harrisonville sets levy, says no to bonds

After meeting for 2 days last week, the Harrisonville Board of Alderman said no to bonds for the financing of the Harrisonville Market Place (HMP) Redevelopment Project. The HMP is a 41 million dollar development at the intersection of 2 Highway and Commercial Street that includes Price Chopper, CVS, Burger King and Phillips 66 (this district has already self-imposed a 1% sales tax).

Route 2 to be Paved Starting this Week

The City of Harrisonville has received word from Hilty Quarries, Inc., that paving of Route 2 from east of Route 7 in Harrisonville to Route ZZ near La Tour, will begin the week of July 27, 2009.

Concept report for proposed interchange

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has provided Harrisonville with a conceptual report for a new interchange at Hwy 71 and Rockhaven Road. The project could cost anywhere from $7 - 12 million dollars.

The new medical center and a presumed increase in local population appear to be the motivating factors for this proposal, which would provide additional access to Route 71 for the communities of Harrisonville and Peculiar.

Harrisonville Receives $3 Million in Stimulus Funds

City Administrator Keith Moody Wednesday received word that the City has been awarded a $3,000,000 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant to fund improvements to its waste water treatment plant and another $4,300,000 in low interest loans to complete the project.

Tax levy a resounding “no”
