On March 16 the Peculiar Board of Alderman voted unanimously to enter into a new Water Purchase Agreement with Public Water Supply District No. 2 of Cass County.

From a City of Peculiar Press Release:

Appearing at the Board of Alderman meeting to answer questions about the new Agreement was David Shrout, the District’s Manager.  Mr. Shrout described the water rate the City will have to pay consists of two components.  The first is the shared cost component that is attributable to the City’s system together with the water cost component of water charged by the City of Kansas City Water Department. Mr. Shrout pointed out the water cost component will gradually increase through 2015.
The estimated water rate, while increased for 2010, will decline through 2015 as a result of anticipated reductions in capital investments and operations and maintenance.
