Skelton: County to Receive Federal Grant

squarePublic Notice:
Washington, DC - Congressman Ike Skelton (D-Missouri) announced that the U.S. Department of Justice will release more than $10,000 to Cass County to underwrite a business plan that will outline necessary steps to update the current law enforcement communications infrastructure.  The grant will be distributed through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Program (Byrne-JAG).

“I am so please that Cass County will secure a federal grant to strengthen their communication strategy.  As a former prosecuting attorney, I know how important it is to ensure our law enforcement agencies have the tools they need to protect the community.  This federal grant will help the agency find a more efficient way to communicate and respond to emergencies.  This is a good thing for the agency and for the community,” said Skelton.

The Byrne-JAG Program allows stats and local law enforcement agencies to conduct a broad range of activities, including purchase of equipment, the training of law enforcement officers, and the carrying out of school violence preventions programs.

NOTE: The Cass County Commission wishes to thank Congressman Skelton for his work to secure grants and funding to improve our communications.  We appreciate the chance to work with the Congressman as we look for federal assistance to help our agencies upgrade their communications systems.
