Teenagers Injured in Car Accident

Posted By J.T. on September 7, 2009

traffic-accidentsHighway Patrol and Cass County officials are trying to figure out how to make the intersection of J highway and Hubach Hill safer after two teenagers were injured in a serious car accident last week.

Katie Donahoe, 16,  was traveling west on Hubach Hill Rd. when she collided with the northbound vehicle of Brian Howard,19, last Tuesday morning.  According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report Donahoe failed to yield at the intersection.

“It was sad”, said Ray-Pec employee Sandra Dunley.  From KCTV5.com:

“Everybody was sad and talking about it all day.  They were talking about how they didn’t like getting up at 6 a.m. and driving that road.”

Some believe the wreck may have been cause not so much by Donahoe’s mistake but an unforgiving road.

“Country roads, hilly blacktop roads a lot of times they don’t drive the right speed,” said Bruce Beck of Peculiar.  “Inexperienced drivers are a little more dangerous.”

Donahoe was taken by ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO where her injuries were considered as serious but not life threatening.  Howard was taken by private vehicle to Research Belton Hospital.
