Skelton Protest Scheduled for Tomorrow
Posted By J.T. on August 11, 2009
There will be a protest tomorrow (8/12) at Ike Skelton’s Jefferson City office. The MO chapter of Americans for Prosperity says they are sponsoring the event to protest Skelton’s decision to avoid town hall meetings.
The picture to the left is a woman upset that Skelton has voted with Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) 97.1% of the time (and thus is an alleged puppet of Pelosi).
The “No Town Hall” town hall event is being held in “response to Congressman Ike Skelton’s recent refusal to hold a town hall meeting to hear constituent voices on a government takeover of health care, AFP– Missouri will host its own town hall meeting on Wednesday, August 12, capturing citizens’ concerns and testimonies on video.”
Who: All Concerned Citizens
What: A surrogate town hall, hosted by Americans for Prosperity – Missouri conjunction with the Adam Smith Foundation
Why: To protest Congressman Skelton’s decision to avoid town hall meetings
and to let him see public opinion on the healthcare plan that is scheduled to come before Congress after the recessWhere: Congressman Ike Skelton’s Jefferson City Office
1401 Southwest BoulevardWhen: August 12, 2009 – 5:30 p.m.
As noted by Fired up! Missouri, Skelton did meet with protesters before the healthcare reform roundtable in Sedalia last Friday. The public was not allowed in the building.
There is no word yet on whether or not Congressman Skelton will be in attendance.

You are promoting an upcoming healthcare reform protest in Jeff City? Mmm, I’m beginning to get the feeling my non-partisan source is not quite as advertised.
Seems non partisan enough when you consider Pelosi, Redi, Obama and the pro Government Controlled HC people get a plenty of time on TV….
But thats off topic. The protest is, or was, a result of Skelton not coming out of hiding to face his constituents and explain why he would consider supporting the HC bill and his fear of facing questions on his Cap and Trade Vote.
At least McCaskill has the strength of her convictions to face the people. Ike is proving daily why he should not be sent back to Washington.
Not promoting the the protest, merely mentioning the fact that it is/was taking place. I also linked to Fired up! Missouri (a partisan news source). Ike Skelton is the U.S. Representative for Missouri’s 4th district which includes Cass County so the fact that people are protesting at his Jefferson City office should be considered newsworthy to his supporters and naysayers alike.
People have always complained about their elected officials and if/when the 4th district ever has a Republican again Cass Politics will be sure to give the same coverage.
Thanks for reading.
