Reminder - Back to School Tax Free Holiday

Beginning tomorrow at midnight, there will be no sales tax on select items this weekend. As already mentioned here before: The state sales tax, county sales tax and city sales taxes will not be in effect during these dates for most of Cass County. Garden City and Peculiar have opted out.
“The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday will be an excellent time for families to buy the school supplies their children need for the upcoming school year,” said Gov. Jay Nixon.
Alana M. Barragán-Scott, acting director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, noted that Missourians are not the only ones who can benefit from the holiday.
“You do not have to be a Missouri resident to save money during the sales tax holiday weekend,” Barragán-Scott said. “I would urge our neighbors to come to Missouri and save on school supplies, clothes, personal computers and other items.”
NOTE: Transportation Development Districts (TDDs) can choose whether to participate in the tax holiday or opt out.
