Hartzler Files Against Skelton

Posted By J.T. on August 1, 2009

hartzlerVicky Jo Hartzler, former state representative (1995-2000) has filed a statement of candidacy to run against U.S. Representative Ike Skelton in 2010.

Hartzler, author of Running God’s Way and former spokeswoman for the Coalition to Protect Marriage in Missouri (that promoted the 2004 amendment banning same-sex marriage) was appointed chairperson of the Missouri Women’s Council in 2005 by then-governor Matt Blunt.

Skelton, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, has won over 60% of the vote in 15 out of his 16 re-election campaigns.  Republicans seem confident they will give him a run for his money this time around, due to his support of the economic stimulus Bill (PL 111-5) and “cap and trade” climate change Bill.

Hartzler has said she is “in the beginning stages of putting together my campaign team.”
