What to do about Potholes
Posted By J.T. on July 25, 2009
Just a public service reminder:
While driving down some of the back roads of Cass County you may notice a few potholes. 215th St. west of D hwy. all the way to State Line rd. is particularly bad. Traversing this road feels like being on an obstacle course.
Potholes occur when moisture penetrates cracks in the asphalt surface of a road or driveway. Cold weather freezes the water and causes it to expand. A pothole forms when dirt and gravel is forced out leaving a hole. The ice eventually melts and the stressed asphalt becomes a pothole.
If you notice county roads in disrepair you can reach the Cass County Road & Bridge Department at 816.380.8360. State highways in need of repair are the responsibility of MoDOT. You can report a road concern to them at www.modot.org/asp/repair.htm
