Ground was broken last week in conjunction with the building of the newest St. Jude Dream home in Raymore.
The four bedroom, 3000-square-foot home will be given to the winner of a raffle on April 17, 2010. The $100 tickets will be available to area residents beginning January 7 of next year and all proceeds will go to St. Jude. Worth approximately $400,000, the house will feature quite a few amenities including: 3 fireplaces, a 3 car garage, granite countertops, a hearth room, a porch and a basement.
From the St. Jude Dream Home website:
The St. Jude Dream Home giveaway was created in 1991 by Dr. Donald Mack, a pediatric physician from Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Mack has relied on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to treat many of his young patients with catastrophic diseases and was the first doctor to send the first out of state patient to St. Jude. Dr. Mack is also a member of the ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Board of Directors and Governors. The first St. Jude Dream Home was constructed in Shreveport, Louisiana and raised $160,000 for St. Jude. Since that first giveaway, the Dream Home event in Shreveport has become an annual fundraiser raising over $19 million for the hospital.
KCTV5 will announce the winner along with the winners of 19 additional prizes during a live special on April 17, 2010.
