MoDOT to close bridge over Grand River

Posted By J.T. on July 20, 2009

grand-river-bridgeTomorrow (July 21) MoDOT will close the Route 2 bridge one mile east of Freeman for repairs.  The bridge should reopen by late August.

From MoDOT’s list of current projects:

Letting date 3/20/09. Awarded in April to Widel Inc. Deck removal and replacement by pouring concrete over steel reinforcement. Work will require closure of the bridge for up to 32 days, beginning July 21. This closure will affect lake-bound traffic out of south Kansas City and Johnson County, Kan.

This could severely impact the time necessary to drive to area lakes.  Stockton, Truman, Pomme DeTerre, Table Rock, Montrose, Bull Shoals and Taneycomo lakes are all accessible via Route 2.

A detour for this project can be found at http://www.modot.org/kansascity/documents/A1391.pdf
