No sales tax!

Posted By J.T. on July 18, 2009

no_taxesBack to School Sales Tax Holiday runs from August 7 - 9.

If you’re needing buy school supplies for your children, there will be no sales tax on select items the weekend of August 7.  Apparently this is the state’s way of saying “we’re sorry for taking all your tax dollars the rest of the year”.  The state sales tax, county sales tax and city sales taxes will not be in effect during these dates for most of Cass County.  Garden City and Peculiar have opted out.

From the Department of Revenue:

Section 144.049, RSMo, establishes a sales tax holiday during a three-day period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the first Friday in August and ending at midnight on the Sunday following. Certain back-to-school purchases, such as clothing, school supplies, computers, and other items as defined by the statute, are exempt from sales tax for this time period only.
