From the Cass County Democrat-Missourian:
Harrisonville’s Ward 4 Alderman Bill Mollenhour faces misdemeanor third-degree assault charges in Cass County Circuit Court.
Charges were filed last week after Mollenhour was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute.
According to court documents, police were called to 1303 Chapel Hill Dr. in reference to a domestic disturbance that had just occurred.
According to the probable cause statement, when an officer arrived, he spoke with Angeleen D. Mollenhour, who said her estranged husband, William Mollenhour, had arrived at the home at approximately 12:30 p.m. and attempted to enter the residence. According to court documents, Bill Mollenhour’s arrival at the house did not comply with a court agreement signed by Judge Jacqueline Cook stating he could pick up some personal items between 6 and 9 p.m.
According to the probable cause statement, Mollenhour allegedly attempted to push his way past Angeleen Mollenhour and she told him that she was going call 911. Bill Mollenhour subsequently shut the door and left the property.
According to court documents, Angeleen Mollenhour declined to sign any type of complaint at that time.
According to court documents, later, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers were dispatched back to the residence in reference to another domestic assault that allegedly just occurred.
Court documents indicate officer Dustin Love contacted Angeleen Mollenhour who told police Bill Mollenhour had returned to the residence at approximately 6:10 p.m. and while he was in the residence, they became involved in a verbal dispute over a broken washing machine in the garage.
Bill Mollenhour then allegedly pushed his way into the main portion of the residence Angeleen Mollenhour called 911. Court documents allege Bill Mollenhour then started disconnecting the computer system and when his wife told him to leave it alone, he picked it up and walked out the door with it.
Police said she attempted to retrieve the computer tower, but Bill Mollenhour allegedly pushed her away. Mollenhour then allegedly put the computer tower into “the right front floorboard of his white Saturn vehicle and Ms. Mollenhour opened the door and attempted to remove it. Mr. Mollenhour jumped into the driver’s seat, started the car and put it into reverse knocking Ms. Mollenhour to the ground. Mr. Mollenhour slammed the car door and drove away from the residence.”
Police said Angeleen Mollenhour complained of pain in her right shoulder and the officer on the scene observed scratches on her left leg that she said were the result of being knocked down by the car. Police said she went to Cass Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
Police said Bill Mollenhour was stopped at the intersection of Mechanic and Bird streets and was arrested for domestic assault.
Mollenhour’s arraignment is set for 9 a.m. July 14 in Cass County Circuit Court.
Harrisonville Mayor Kevin Wood responded saying, “This is a personal issue for the Mollenhours,” and expressed his hope the two parties “are able to solve their problems for the good of their family.”
