Harrisonville - As the July Fourth holiday approaches, city officials would like to remind residents that there are city ordinances governing the possession and use of fireworks within the city limits of Harrisonville.
Fireworks may be purchased from a licensed vendor June 20 through July 5. All vendors are required to have a city-issued business license
Most types of fireworks may be enjoyed within the city limits between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., July 1st through July 3rd, and from 7 a.m. until midnight on July 4th. However, lit fireworks may not be thrown from a moving vehicle.
Bottle rockets are strictly prohibited. A bottle rocket is defined as an aerial fireworks device that has a wood, bamboo, or plastic stick attached and has an overall length less than eighteen (18”) inches.
In addition, any fireworks exhibitions require both a permit and the payment of a fee.
Residents are reminded that the City of Harrisonville Parks & Recreation Department will host a free fireworks show on July 4. The show will begin at dusk in City Park.
For questions on fireworks, please call the Codes Administration Department, 380-8958.
