Commissioners have worked with Road & Bridge officials to look at cost, efficiencies, and construction practices to put the best plan in place for 2009. The County Commission credited the work of the Cass County Road & Bridge Task Force in helping set the direction.

The Drexel community in extreme southwestern Cass County last week began digging out from under debris left when high winds ripped off roofs, uprooted trees, downed power lines and caused other extensive damage in the small town.

For the first time this season Cass County is under a heat advisory. With heat indices being between 105 - 110 degrees the Cass County Health Department would like to remind everyone that anyone can suffer heat illness or death, but there are some members of our community at higher risk.

The Cass County Commission will hold an informal briefing on deploying second generation, carbon neutral, bio-hybrid methane gas energy production concepts for power generation. The process utilizes cellulosic silage converting it to gas, using the gas to generate electricity, leveraging and improving upon processes that have been successfully used in Germany for the past 15 years where more than 4,000 similar facilities exist today.

City Administrator Keith Moody Wednesday received word that the City has been awarded a $3,000,000 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant to fund improvements to its waste water treatment plant and another $4,300,000 in low interest loans to complete the project.
