Ike Skelton: Obama has made Washington more partisan

Posted By J.T. on April 26, 2009

From the Springfield News-Leader

SPRINGFIELD — More than 500 Democrats gathered in Springfield today for the 86th annual Jackson Day.

U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton, a Democrat from Lexington, Mo. who has been in Congress since 1977, says he’s routinely asked what “change” Barrack Obama has brought to Washington, D.C. since being elected president.

His answer?

“It’s far more partisan, at times more bitter,” Skelton said during the Saturday morning breakfast hosted by Obama booster Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Skelton, whose west-central Missouri congressional district includes northern Polk County and Dade, Dallas, Laclede and Webster counties, praised McCaskill for her rapid rise up the political ladder after just two years in the Senate.

“Claire McCaskill is not only a rising in the Democratic Party,” Skelton said, “she is a rising star in the United States of America.”

The article did not mention that Skelton’s district also includes Cass County.
